U-G-L-Y Thrift Store Chest turned European Painted Beauty

  • I had just delivered a piece when Mr. Fix It says , "Hey want to stop here!" Well I'm not about to turn down a visit to a thrift store. Look what I spotted!!!  DID YOU HERE THAT? Angels singing and bright lights right over the top of this poor ugly thing. Yes! This ole gal had a vision for this baby. Knew just how I wanted her painted.

Now can We say B-U-T-FUL!!! Yes! This piece was just what I was searching for. I had the vision in my head. (You know there is help for that. Right?)
I gave her a good cleaning. Painted her with Ce Ce Caldwells Hershey Brown. Allowing the paint to dry. Went straight for the dark ageing wax. I wanted it dark brown. I painted the drawers a Santa Fe Turquoise, clear waxed  and distressed. Cleaned and painted the pulls. The pulls are painted oil rubbed bronze. I added the top Fleur pulls. Wah La!  Backing up and looking at her! Yes! I had completed my vision. Oh! Please don't tell Mr. Fix It, I'm having visions. He's already worried that I hear voices. You know those where my furniture speaks to me and tells me just how it wants to be painted. LOL!

Now tell me. Do you have visions also?

  1. You did an amazing job on that...I am usually one who 'sees' the potential in a piece {where others are shaking their heads} but I am not sure even I could have envisioned this transformation....Kudos to you!
